5. 1976 - The Russian Opera And Ballet Collection

Autumn Winter 1976 YSL created it is said to be his best collection inspired by Russia and it famous ballet dynasty. The collection is said to of inspired the folklore and ethnic designs we see today. Combining luxurious fabrics of suede, woollen coats and black sable suited to an intensely Russian winter. YSL crafted them into gold trimmed gypsy style skirts, high Russian boots in matching gold leather trimmed with mink and turbans in jewel tones. Bellowing floor-kissing skirts in vibrant yellow, greens and blues had strong floral printed gypsy style tops with bellowing sleeves. Certainly a collection from Russia with love.
