Thomas Bjorn turned professional all the way back in 1993 and since that arrival on the scene, he has proven a huge threat on the European Tour and can count himself unfortunate not to have added a major crown to his brimming trophy collection.

Sixteen years separate Bjorn's first finish inside the top 10 of a major - which came at The Open Championship in 1998 - and his last at the 2014 Masters where he ended in eighth, and he has finished in the top 10 on a total of eight occasions.

However, while he holds one of the most respectable records in the history of the European Tour with 15 victories in a dozen different years, he will forever rue his disastrous conclusion to the 2003 Open Championship.

Heading into the final four holes, he led the field by three but he dropped four shots during his next three holes and after he could only par the 18th, he allowed Ben Curtis to seal a major crown on his debut.

Bjorn is considered to be the greatest Dane to play the sport and he has featured on three successful Ryder Cup teams but he should have definitely added a major title to his name.
