It came against Getafe in the Copa del Rey back in April 2007, when Messi was still just a teenager, and the similarities it has with Diego Maradona's unforgettable goal against England in 1986 is incredible. Having superbly beaten a couple of Getafe defenders with two wonderful body swerves on the halfway line, out on the right-hand side, the then 19-year-old ran at the rest of the helpless opposing team. He preceded to weave past two further lunges, before rounding the goalkeeper with an expert dummy and firing into the net. The whole of Camp Nou was stunned by what they had seen, and it was clear that they were watching the finest footballer of his generation becoming a superstar.
