10 Craziest Boxing Press Conferences

4. Bernard Hopkins Vs. Félix Trinidad

In 2001, legendary boxing promoter Don King organised a middleweight tournament to determine the undisputed champion of the weight class. The two finalists of the tournament were Philadelphia native Bernard Hopkins - who was coming off the back of 14 successful defenses of his IBF middleweight title - and the newly crowned WBA champion Félix Trinidad from Puerto Rico.

In an attempt to gain the psychological edge at a press conference in New York's Bryant Park, Bernard Hopkins grabbed a miniature Puerto Rican flag out of his opponent's hand and tossed it to the ground. Two months later, Hopkins decided to repeat the trick, only this time he carried out the act in front of 10,000 adoring Trinidad fans at a press conference in Puerto Rico. Bad idea. Not only did this anger his foe, but it also incited a riot among the army of Puerto Ricans who threw seats and bottles as they tried to get to Hopkins - while the American literally ran for his life.

The most hilarious moment of the event occurred just after Hopkins threw the flag, as the camera showed Don King with a look on his face which said: "I've just crapped my pants".
