10 Deflating Things That Always Seem To Happen To Spurs

4. Losing Out At The Last Minute

It has become quite a frequent thing to see Spurs challenging for a Champions League place all season, only to miss out right at the death. Two instances of this happening stand out in particular - one involving the infamous food poisoning debacle that caused Spurs to lose 2-1 at West Ham in 2006 (a match that, if they'd won, would have ensure Champions League qualification) and the other in which Spurs had finished fourth in the Premier League, but the very last match of the 2012 season - the Champions League final between Chelsea and Bayern Munich - ensured they didn't qualify for Europe's elite competition as sixth place Chelsea went and won it, usurping them from next season's tournament. One thing Spurs fans have learned to do is not to count their chickens. Everything might look fine and dandy, but it can all go pear-shaped at the very last minute.
