10 Footballers Who Claimed It Definitely Wasn't All About The Money

10. Samir Nasri

Nasri's move from Arsenal to Manchester City was a tough one for the Frenchman. He had been presented with the choice between Manchester United and City and decided to go with the Citizens, which seemed somewhat strange for some because of their comparatively poorer history. But then, of course, there was the small matter that the club were in a position to offer him an obscene amount of money for his services. Publicly Nasri said he'd decided on City because United already had a big history, and that he would "just be one of them." while City were not such a big club, and he would be able to "make history" with them by winning the Premier League title. To be fair he did so, he has played a key part in the revolution of Manchester City as a dominant side in world football. He also gained himself precisely zero fans in the United camp by saying City's fans were better to play for. Oddly, he also admits he is economically better off, and that if a club offered you "three times your salary, I think you are going to go there!" so at least he stopped with the facade of his original excuse in the end.
