10 Footballers Who Claimed It Definitely Wasn't All About The Money
9. Paul Pogba
The former Le Havre player royally annoyed his youthful employers when he signed an agreement with the club which meant that the French side could sign the player to a youth contract once he met the minimum age and scholarly requirements and then ignored it entirely. Manchester United swooped in and supposedly offered Pogba £87,000 and a house to move, and all of a sudden he had swiftly become a Red Devil as a result. Pogba vehemently denied that his move was based around the money United were offering, but as a young player who has the world at his feet and bags of potential, it's hard to believe him, particularly in light of what then happened. Pogba failed to make any sort of impact at Manchester United and left the club having made no fewer than three appearances in a red shirt and then joined Juventus in 2012 on a free transfer. That transfer too was apparently based on money, despite the player claiming that he had left because he had not been played enough. Sir Alex Ferguson claimed that the Frenchman had signed a deal with Juventus "a long time ago" and that he had disrespected the club, who had offered him the chance of more first team football, which was ignored in favour of Juve's £20,000 a week offer. Sadly for United, Pogba is now worth £60million and is close to signing a new deal until 2019, earning him huge 3.2million a year.
