While Ryan Giggs might have been a surprising name when it comes to football scandals, it's hard to say that former Chelsea skipper John Terry falls into the same category.

Terry had always been someone who wound up a large section of football fans with his on-field antics, so it wasn't exactly a massive surprise to see 'Mr Chelsea' hit the headlines for sleeping with Wayne Bridge's girlfriend back in 2010.

A teammate at both club and international level, the story cut close to the bone for Bridge, who, after leaving Stamford Bridge, refused to shake Terry's hand in games against each other going forward.

Terry had previous controversies before this event came to light, as run-ins with American tourists and fights with bouncers had hit the headlines.

However, he'd never been the subject of affairs away from his wife, Toni, who he remains married to this day.

Despite the reports of Terry's affair with Bridge's girlfriend being quashed by some publications, it still had disastrous effects for Terry at the time, as he was stripped of the England captaincy by then-manager, Fabio Capello.

Terry did recover from this and go on to have massive success, being reinstated in the England set up less than a year later.
