Ryan Giggs was a player who had managed to maintain his image and professionalism during his time at Man United. Usually away from the limelight as players like David Beckham stole the headlines, Giggs, it was believed, was nothing but a top footballer and all-round family man.

That's why when it came out that Giggs had not only had an affair away from his wife with former Big Brother contestant Imogen Thomas but also slept with his brother's wife for around eight years, it was a complete shock.

Giggs had, probably quite sensibly in his mind, been keeping things a secret from everyone. However, things started to unravel when MP John Hemming used his parliamentary privileges to essentially out Giggs as the player with a gagging order in place in relation to the Imogen Thomas affair.

While his actions clearly disappointed his family and Giggs' dad even admitted he was "ashamed" of him after he was appointed Wales manager, the fact Giggs was given the role suggests the Welsh FA didn't care for his past demeanours. Or, based on the team's performances, his managerial ability either.
