10 Former Players Bolton Wanderers Could Do With Now
3. Jack Wilshere
I think I owe a lot to Owen Coyle. The spell made me realise its not all about yourself in a team and you must work for the team. I think when I went there all I wanted to do was get some experience. They were great up there and helped me a lot. - Jack Wilshere, September 2010.
Jack Wilshere divides a lot of opinion at the minute, which isnt surprising considering his often abrasive and puerile nature on the pitch. While many claim that he is a frustrating figure who spends more time in the infirmary than he does helping his team, there are others who firmly declare that he is one of the most talented players England have produced in the last two decades. The reality is probably somewhere in between. Bolton supporters certainly knew they were onto something special when they took him on loan for the second half of the 09/10 season, as he produced a string of mature and accomplished performances. He scored one goal during his 14 appearances and impressed so much that they tried unsuccessfully to sign him on loan for the following season. The 10/11 season proved to be his breakthrough, as he received his first England cap and played 49 times for the Gunners at the tender age of 20 years old. While Wilshere has just been ruled out for three months, Bolton probably wouldnt want to inherit his treatment bill right now, but upon his return from injury, there would be a queue from London all along the M50 for the talented midfielder should the unlikelihood of his availability ever arise.
