10 Former Strikers Spurs Wish They Had Now

3. Jimmy Greaves

Time At Spurs: 1961-1970. Games For Spurs: 379. Goals For Spurs: 266. The word "legend" is thrown around far, far too often in most walks of life - not least in the world of football - but there is absolutely no doubting the fact that Jimmy Greaves is every bit the Spurs legend. When you talk about goals-to-games ratios, they don't come much better than the record Greaves had at White Hart Lane. The former England man managed to maintain a record of more than two goals in every three games that he played at the club - a statistic made all the more impressive when you consider that he maintained it over nearly 400 matches. Truly remarkable. A composed, confident and extremely quick player, Greaves won the FA Cup twice and the European Cup Winners' Cup once with Spurs and is the club's outright top scorer of all time. He scored an unbelievable 44 goals for England in just 57 caps. There will never be a player like him at Spurs again, but they could really, really use one.
