10 Greatest Wimbledon Champions Of All Time

3. Serena Williams

It is tough to separate the Williams sisters in terms of talent as they have slightly different playing styles but have both highly successful at Wimbledon, but Serena has a better overall record than Venus and currently holds the record for the most major titles by any male or female player that still plays professionally. Due to these facts she has to be regarded as the better sister, although I'm sure Venus could argue against that! Serena is still world number one, a position that she has held on and off for around a decade. Although she is ranked as the best in the world she has struggled at Wimbledon of late, not progressing past the fourth round in the last two years. However, with a career as illustrious as hers surely nobody can begrudge her a couple of bad performances. Like her sister she has won four Olympic gold medals and five Wimbledon singles titles, the latest coming in 2012. Her period of immense domination was around 2008 until 2010 when her sheer power blew most of her opponents away. In the 2010 final she didn't even face a break point as she breezed to the title. Similarly to her sister, Serena has changed the format of women's tennis and now only begins to struggle as she gets older and the younger, fitter players follow her lead and look to play strong, aggressive and attacking tennis. She truly is one of the greats and an inspiration to many.
