10 Greatest Wimbledon Champions Of All Time

4. Venus Williams

The Williams sisters are the only women on this list to still be playing professional tennis and their long careers at the top level are a testament to their work ethic. Venus herself now ranks at number 25 in the world following an injury prone and generally unsuccessful few seasons. Nevertheless, her record at Wimbledon is fantastic and she truly is one of the greats of the game. She first reached number one in the world rankings back in February 2002, plunging the world of tennis into a new era. Her athleticism and power made her dominant over all but her sister, forcing the rest of the women's pros to step up their game. Since then Venus has widely been credited with bringing the women's game to where it is today; more in line with the men in terms of strength and agility. She has won a total of five Wimbledon singles titles, spanning between 2000 and 2008 when she beat her sister Serena in the final. Although she hasn't had the all-round success that her sister has, Venus has won the same amount of Wimbledon singles titles, and joins an exclusive group that have won it on five occasions.
