2. Peter Storey
Peter Robinson/EMPICS SportPeter Storey spent 15 years with Arsenal and during that time he cemented his place in history as one of the hardest men to ever play for the club. Representing the Gunners during the 1960s and 70s, he quickly earned a reputation as being a hatchet man. In his book,
The Storey: My Life and Crimes as a Football Hatchet Man, Storey admits to receiving criticism for his aggressive ways. The Daily Express claimed Storey was overdoing the tough guy act when he injured Manchester City legend Mike Summerbee during the 1966/67. Storey also speaks in his book of how he was told to get stuck into opposition wingers. Playing as a full back, Storey would look to assert himself early on in the match, ensuring that opponents thought twice about taking him on again. A boyhood Arsenal fan and a true hardman, who genuinely loved a tackle, Storey is unlikely to not be top of this list.
