10 Hardest Men That Ever Played For Liverpool

10. Jamie Carragher

The second-longest serving player in the history of the team, the seventeen years Jamie Carragher served at Liverpool before his retirement last year would've easily done enough to secure his place in Anfield history. The fact that he spent much of that history being one of the hardest defenders in the Premier League only goes further to cement his lasting reputation at the club. Back in the day he was criticised as something of a "limited defender", compared to attacking fall backs like Ashley Cole, and he was somewhat less adept at skills other than battering people's shins. But when it came to that battering, Carragher was a natural. He was very much of the ilk of "good old days" footballers that the old folks bang on about, from his last minute blocks to his, ahem, old-school style of tackles which left many modern players with something to actually cry about for once. It's probably good, in the long run, that Carragher bowed out of the beautiful game €“ the style of play isn't really compatible with his - but for a while, seeing him taking out the likes of Shane Long and Nani was a constant treat. The free kicks after, slightly less so.
