10 Managers Who Never Deserved The Sack

2. Carlo Ancelotti - Chelsea

It€™s testament to the trigger-happy tendencies of Russian oligarch Roman Abramovich that Chelsea have sacked three Champions League-winning managers in their quest for that Holy Grail of European football. Indeed, Ancelotti has won the Champions League thrice now, following last season€™s pulsating victory over cross-city rivals Athletico Madrid, to add to the two he won with AC Milan. We needn€™t be surprised that Carlo Ancelotti is currently the manager of the most powerful and prestigious football club in the world. One look at his managerial CV is enough to force even the most boastful and proud men in the game to shy away impotently, as he boasts an assortion of medals. In his first season, Ancelotti was a revelation, bringing to the club what had been sorely lacking under his predecessors €“ goals. A record-breaking 103 were slipped past Premier League goalkeepers on their way to a one-point winning margin over Manchester United. Victors in the FA Cup as well, beating Portsmouth in the final, Ancelotti was a double-winning manager in his debut season. Within one trophyless yea, the Russian€™s hand would get twitchy, and the firearm was fired. Ancelotti was gone, and with it Chelsea€™s title hopes for the next five years. When news broke in the media, it wasn€™t just the Italian whose eyebrow was halfway up his forehead.

Mourinho is back at the club now, but with Ancelotti having reigned supreme as a king of Europe for the third time in May, Roman might just have thought to himself €“ €˜what if I have made a mistake?€™
