10 Midfielders That Will Be In Roy Hodgson's Provisional England Squad (And 1 That Won't)

9. Andros Townsend - Spurs

Caps: 5 Goals: 1 Townsend was England's hottest property towards the end of last year, with his superb performances against Ukraine and Poland in the Three Lions' qualification campaign. Since then his performances for his club have tailed off somewhat and Hodgson faces a decision on whether the Spurs winger will be part of his World Cup plans. He is the kind of player that gives opposing defenders nightmares, with his direct running, and has already demonstrated that he can deliver an end product too. He has the potential to be a game changing player but may have lost out on a place in the starting line up to other rivals who have enjoyed a better second half of the season. However Hodgson will not have forgotten Townsend's previous performances in an England. Expect him to be in the final 23 man squad ahead of the likes of Adam Johnson.
