10 Midfielders That Will Be In Roy Hodgson's Provisional England Squad (And 1 That Won't)

10. Adam Lallana - Southampton

Caps: 3 Goals: 0 One of the breakthrough talents into the England set up in the past year, Lallana has enjoyed a superb season with his club side. It is testament to how much he has developed as a player that he is now being talked about as a potential starter at the World Cup rather than just a squad member. Versatility is a key attribute that all international managers look for in a player and Hodgson will be aware that Lallana has the ability to play out wide on either flank and also in a holding midfield role. The Saints captain is technically very good on the ball and his club manager has gone as far as to compare him with Spanish masters Iniesta and Xavi in recent weeks. He is an accomplished dribbler and passer of the ball and it is no surprise that he is being chased by a number of top Premier League clubs. If Lallana does start for England expect to see him out wide on the left flank, creating opportunities in an advanced position.
