10 Most Embarrassing Old Firm European Nights

3. FBK Kaunas 2-1 Rangers (August 2008)

Rangers travelled to Lithuania to play obscure FBK Kaunas in this Champions League qualifier, after drawing the first leg 0-0 at home. The Gers had their wonderful run to the UEFA Cup final only a few months before, and had perfected the art of getting away results in Europe. Everything was going according to plan when midfielder Kevin Thomson latched onto Nacho Novo's through ball to put Rangers ahead in the tie. With the away goal secured, Rangers set about protecting their lead but they hadn't banked on Nerijus Radzius equalising with an exquisite free kick just before half time. Still Rangers were in control of the tie, although Kaunas were piling on the pressure late on. The pressure finally told when Linas Pilibaitis scored a dramatic late header, which sent Rangers crashing out of Europe in August.
