10 People You Didn’t Know Almost Managed Spurs

2. Brendan Rodgers

Former Swansea City boss and current Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers could actually have ended up at White Hart Lane instead of Anfield. Rodgers had Swansea playing in a manner quite reminiscent of the attractive style associated with Spurs and would have been a great match for the club, but the appointment didn't happen. Regarding his snubbing of the club and his subsequent decision to join Liverpool, Rodgers had this to say:
They are a great club and one of the things I looked at was their history. They'd had eleven managers in eighteen years there. I needed to create something. I needed to go to a club who were going to give me that opportunity. I am more than happy with the choice I made to come here and hopefully in time it will prove to be the right one.
That aforementioned issue of Spurs going through managers like nobody's business is giving them a reputation - and it's one that is clearly putting off certain potential appointments.
