10 Players You Didn't Know QPR Almost Signed

3. Lassano Diarra

Harry Redknapp has a habit of shooting his mouth off before the crossing of the T's and the dots of the I's, much to the annoyance of Hoops supporters. While no transfer deadline day is complete without that iconic image of the wheeler-dealer poking his head out of a car window to cheerfully indulge the waiting journalist hacks with titbits of gossip, it's his inability to keep his cards close to his chest which has left him red-faced on more than one occasion. Just weeks ago, for example, QPR supporters were counting their chickens as Redknapp confirmed the signature of former Real Madrid, Arsenal and Chelsea midfielder Lassano Diarra from Russian side Lokomotiv Moscow.
''Lassano Diarra has signed and I'm delighted to have him. I had him at Portsmouth and he is a terrific player.'' - Harry Redknapp, August 2014.
However, just days later it emerged that the Frenchman wasn't going to be signing a deal in west London after all, following a late issue between the player and his club, which ultimately scuppered the move. Having passed a medical on the Saturday, the excitement had become unbearable for the former Spurs boss. Following the collapse of the move, however, QPR were quick to dip their noses back into the market and tie up a deal for Spurs dynamo Sandro for a fee of £10 million.
