10 Players Everton Should Regret Not Signing

1. Sir Bobby Robson

Okay, so he isn€™t a football player, but it would be hugely amiss to leave out Sir Bobby Robson from this list now wouldn€™t it. According to his own biography, Sir Bobby had agreed a deal with then chairman John Moores to become the new Everton manager and was given a £50,000 cheque as a thank you gift. However, he stipulated that nothing be said until he had gone back to Ipswich and broke the news himself, such was his high regard for the club. He awoke the next morning to find the story was in all the Sunday newspapers, so he ripped up the cheque he had been given and that was that. He of course later managed both England and Barcelona to great acclaim, as well as his final spell at Newcastle United where he led them to the Champions League. Oh what could have been for the Toffees with this legendary boss guiding them, especially considering the highly talented squads that the Blues had in that period. Sadly it wasn€™t to be, although they didn€™t too badly in the 1980s without him mind you.
