10 Players Who Were Forced Out Of Old Trafford

1. Roy Keane

''We had to react to the situation so quickly because his actions were so quick. For one reason or another, he decides to go and criticise his team-mates. Most of you won't have seen the video but you couldn't release it. You just couldn't. We decided we had to do something. I just couldn't lose my control in this situation. Roy overstepped his mark. There was no other thing we could do.'' - Sir Alex Ferguson, October 2013.
Ferguson was, of course, speaking about the infamous incident that occurred nine years ago that spelled the end of Roy Keane's time as a Manchester United player, ignominiously dumped with a broken foot and 'without a club lined up'. The club captain had used MUTV as the medium to be particularly vocal in his condemnation of a youthful Red Devils side as they sunk to a humiliating 4-1 defeat at Middlesbrough, lamenting the 'shortage of characters'. It was never aired, and Keane was immediately shown the door.
''Of course I was upset: I was did shed a few tears in my car for about two minutes. But I also told myself I had to get on with my life. I walked out with nothing, I had no club lined up and I was injured. I could have played for Manchester United easily for another couple of years.'' - Roy Keane, November 2013.
Nearly a decade has passed, and neither Keane nor Ferguson seem to have buried the hatchet, taking swings at each other in the media in recent years, but for the former captain, one can't help but understand his reason to feel aggrieved at being unceremoniously dumped after 12 years of success. So that's a wrap - do you agree with this list? Have there been any notable exclusions, and do you think any of the aforementioned weren't actually forced out? As always, feel free to leave your thoughts and opinions in the comment section below.
