10. Darron Gibson
Media Image LtdMidfielder Gibson has had a mixed career since leaving United for Everton in 2012: some might say he made the right decision, although he might have had a chance of breaking through at United. The midfielder had a reputation for scoring goals outside the box in his time at United and if he had waited a little longer (perhaps until Paul Scholes had retired for the third or fourth time) then he may have commanded a regular first-team berth, especially with centre midfield becoming a problem area for the side. Instead, he transferred to Everton in 2012, with many seeing him as the ready-made replacement for Phil Neville, another former United player, who was due to retire. As things stand, however injuries have disrupted his progress at Everton, presumably making him wonder what might have been if he had stayed at United. Furthermore, Everton's midfield has been bolstered in recent days with the permanent signing of Gareth Barry, a midfield lynchpin in Gibson's position, on a three year deal that seems to suggest confidence in his longevity and his appeal to the first team. Meanwhile, Gibson will also have to fight Leon Osman to get a first-team spot at Everton, who had a better season than the former United man at Everton last time out.
