When Alessandro Diamanti left for Breschia following a single season with the Hammers, things seemed to be going well for him. As West Ham were relegated the following season, Diamanti found form with first team spells for Breschia and Bologna, even managing to break his way into the Italian national team. It would seem strange then that his name is on this list, but Diamanti has stated himself that his only regret was leaving West Ham. He became an instant fan favourite in the short time he was with the club, with fans hoping he would become the new Paulo Di Canio. That seemed like one of his own aspirations too, which was unfortunately cut short.
