10 Players Spurs Should Consider Getting Rid Of

1. Benoit Assou-Ekotto

Benoit Assou-Ekotto's time at Spurs is well and truly up - indeed, it was already up a year ago. Even in a squad that only had one other senior left back, Assou-Ekotto was loaned out to Harry Redknapp€™s Queens Park Rangers in the Championship. He has now been pushed down the pecking order by both the arrival of Ben Davies from Swansea City and Danny Rose€™s emergence last year €“ the latter of whom, as we've already specified has recently signed a new five year contract. The left back has one year left on his contract at White Hart Lane, but Spurs are willing to cut their losses on him €“ especially since he made things worse for himself when head-butted a team-mate on the pitch during Cameroon€™s defeat to Croatia in the group stages of this summer's World Cup - and he has apparently been made available for free, but any money they can get from him would certainly be favourable. Assou-Ekotto, who has 22 international caps in total, has made 155 Premier League appearances and 50 more in other competitions for Spurs since joining from French club Lens in 2006 and he made a lot of friends at the club thanks to his fun personality off the pitch €“ but a string of poor performances saw him lose his place and the fans have lost a lot of respect for him since his World Cup exploits.
