10 Players That Stole A Living From West Ham

8. Calum Davenport

Calum Davenport was a player with huge potential when West Ham acquired him for £3 million from Tottenham in 2007. With a string of U19, U20 and U21 caps under his belt, he arrived as a future star for the Hammers. When his loan spell at Watford was cut short due to a neck injury he sustained in his first game in January 2008, he spent the rest of the season on the sidelines. Seemingly undeterred by this however, he returned to West Ham for the first game of the 2009 season and made the majority of his club appearances in the coming months. After another loan spell, this time at Sunderland, Davenport's 2010 season for the Hammers immediately came to a halt, along with his future star status, when he was involved in a stabbing incident that almost ended his career. When further details about the incident came to light later that year and Davenport was charged for assault, West Ham eventually put a stop to his wages and finally his contract was mutually terminated the next year.
