10 Players That Stole A Living From West Ham

7. Luis Boa Morte

Luis Boa Morte was a Premier League household name when West Ham signed the influential attacker from Fulham when in 2007 for £5 million. After spells at Arsenal and Southampton, he became something of a cult hero when he joined Fulham, due to his passion and his skill in taking on players; something Hammers fans were excited to see for themselves. Unfortunately, he was a shadow of his former self in the four seasons he spent with the Hammers. With only two goals in over a hundred appearances, his salary of reportedly £70,000 a week proved a less than satisfactory investment for the club. Why his contract was extended based on these statistics is uncertain still. Eventually, before his departure, he did become something of a cult figure for the claret and blues, but far from his hero status at Fulham; he displayed a commendable passion similar to his former club but not a shred of the quality that the fans came to expect. In other words, he tried, but he just simply wasn't good enough. He left with mutual consent at the end of his contract to travel abroad.
