When you think of great Manchester United strikers, there's precisely no chance that your mind ever goes to French Fancy David Bellion. The pacey striker had great natural aptitude for sport and was a gifted sprinter in his youth but speed alone doesn't make for a great footballer.

His arrival at Old Trafford was mired with controversy as he opted to run his contract down at Sunderland rather than press for a move that would financially benefit the club. Compensation was ultimately agreed between the Red Devils and the Black Cats and while United looked to be getting a steal, it turned out to be Sunderland who robbed the Red Devils blind.

Bellion had a nasty habit of running himself ragged as soon as he came onto the pitch but seemingly deliberately away from play. He was the archetypal headless chicken player, and somewhat inevitably he eventually left the club without really making a real claim on a first team place.
