The saddest thing about Taibi's time at Manchester United is that it actually started rather well before sliding into complete and utter failure. Brought in after Peter Schmeichel left and both Mark Bosnich and Raymond Van Der Gouw succumbed to injury, he cost £4.5 million.

A man of the match award in his first game against Liverpool suggested Taibi could actually live up to, what was then, a large transfer fee and might even challenge Bosnich for the number one place in the squad.

Obviously, it didn't pan out that way and Taibi committed one of the most shown goalkeeping errors in Premier League history. Matthew le Tissier sliced a speculative strike at the Manchester United goal from range and watched his effort bobble towards the oncoming Taibi for what should have been an easy collect.

Taibi proceeded to scoop the ball up off the ground and throw it between his legs into the open United goal and the game ended 3-3 as a product of this !*$% up.
