The young German - the latest in a long line of German players to come through the academy ranks with a ready made ability to perform at the top level - rejected Arsenal last December, much to the annoyance of fans. He has pace, technique and vision, all the qualities that Arsene Wenger looks for in player, and he would have been the kind of statement of intent that would have cemented the club's attempts to challenge for the title. It's still unclear why he chose not to leave Schalke, as he had previously indicated that Arsenal would be his preferred destination - but having said no last year, he may not get the opportunity again. Arsenal have since signed Alexis Sanchez, a similarly moulded player and it is unlikely that they will now pay the £30million+ price tag around Draxler's neck. At such a young age though, Draxler will still have time to develop his career, albeit at a slightly older age than he might have at the Emirates.
I have been described as a sportsman with the brain of an athlete and the body of a scientist. Since it was established that playing wouldn't work out for me I have taken to writing.
