10 Problems Only Newcastle United Fans Will Understand
2. Rail Companies Running Dry Trains To And From London Fixtures
With Newcastle's performances in the capital usually lacklustre, who could blame the travelling fans for drowning their sorrows on their way back up north? Well unfortunately East Coast Rail have announced a zero tolerance on alcohol on journeys between London and Newcastle before and after the match. Although dry trains returning from fixtures is nothing new, in April 2014 East Coast Rail decided to operate the same policy on journeys to London. Head of Safety Lesley Heath released the following statement:
Together with the transport police, we have carefully reviewed the results of last years trial implementation of our dry train policy on this train. As a result, fewer incidents of disorder took place on the service. We also saw a significant reduction in the number of complaints from other passengers. Several customers contacted us to support the decision to trial an alcohol ban and suggested it should return again this year."
Unfortunately this seems to be another example of the minority spoiling the fun for the everyone.
