10 Problems Only Spurs Fans Will Understand

9. False Dawns

The number of false dawns at White Hart Lane has been nothing short of ridiculous. Spurs go through managers like nobody's business and every time a new one arrives, he is heralded as the saviour and the man to lead them to glory. George Graham, Glenn Hoddle, Jacques Santini, Martin Jol, Juande Ramos, Harry Redknapp, Andre Villas Boas and, now, Mauricio Pochettino all gave fans hope of the club finally reaching the top - but none of them ever really did (although Pochettino may still do that, but don't hold your breaths!). It's the same with every transfer window as well - none more so than last year's summer window, when Spurs used the money brought in from Gareth Bale's sale to Real Madrid in order to acquire no less than seven new players. Internationals from Brazil (Paulinho), Spain (Roberto Soldado) and Argentina (Erik Lamela) were joined by four other players and it was expected that this new found squad depth would give Spurs the means to immediately succeed. It didn't work - and it hasn't worked like that for some time - but, again, the club's fans will be hoping that Pochettino's signings do go on to make an immediate impression and succeed.
