10 Problems Only Spurs Fans Will Understand

8. Seven Average Players Can't Replace One Awesome Player

Very few clubs have ever splashed out as extravagantly as Spurs did last summer (aside from those with bottomless pits of cash, like Manchester City), but Spurs were able to thanks to the reluctant sale of superstar Welshman Gareth Bale. The attacker joined Spanish giants Real Madrid in a world record £85.3 million deal and, coupled with the sale of a number of squad players, this gave Spurs a £100 million+ war chest to play with. Spurs signed Roberto Soldado (£26 million), Paulinho (£17 million), Erik Lamela (£30 million), Vlad Chiriches (£8.5 milion), Christian Eriksen (£11.5 million), Etienne Capoue (£8.6 million) and Nacer Chadli (£7 million) - and only one of those players, Eriksen, has really contributed positively to the club since joining. Be warned, Liverpool, quality rather than quantity is very important.
