1. The Squad Won't Play For Him And He Can't Motivate Them
As you can probably tell from my earlier entries, I don't believe that Steve McClaren has the ability to motivate the current Newcastle squad. I believe that his appointment has given the players another excuse to under-perform due to his managerial reputation and credentials. Based on what I have seen so far, the players (especially the bigger names) seem frustrated by his animated body language on the touchline and aggrieved by his tactical commands.
