Even if you don't choose to run competitively, there's still a major sense of pride to be found from running. Whether it's completing a challenging distance, beating your personal best for a particular course, or just getting out there and doing something, running is ripe to make you feel good about yourself.

If you do start to take running more seriously, there's the possibility of eventually joining local races and even national marathons. In addition to the bellowing satisfaction which comes with finishing such a tricky run, there's also the possibility of a tangible, shiny medal at the end of it.
