As active as running is, it's also relatively passive: there's not a great deal of thought involved. It really is just going from one place to the other, like driving a car, except you're driving your feet.

It's a perfect time to get lost in your thoughts, but after a while that becomes quite boring, so it's an even better time to get stuck into some podcasts. Podcasts are wonderful for their passivity: you can listen to them in the background to enliven otherwise mundane tasks, without them requiring your full attention.

As a consequence, they marry perfectly to running. If you become bored of other people's thoughts, you can always stick some music on. Make sure it's something inspiring!
