10 Sports Deaths That Were Caught On Tape

3. Shannon Stone Falls 20Ft Trying To Catch Ball At Baseball Game

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DhEtMUPkEgI On July 7, 2011, 39-year-old, firefighter Shannon Stone took his 6-year-old son, Cooper, to see the Texas Rangers play the Oakland Athletics at Rangers Ballpark in Arlington. Their tickets were front row in the left field, right behind Cooper's favorite player, Josh Hamilton. Along the way to the game, they bought a glove for Cooper, hoping they may catch a ball. During the game, a foul ball was picked up by Hamilton. He lofted the ball up to the stands and Shannon leaned over the railing to catch the ball. He leaned a bit too far and fell 20 ft., head first, to the pavement below in front of his son. Shannon died a short time later in the hospital. The next night the flags were flown at half-mast at Rangers Ballpark, the players wore black ribbons on their uniforms and there was a moment of silence for Stone.
