Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo. The two each operate in the same role - as a forward - with the function of making and scoring goals, while each are strong and powerful players. Ronaldo of course is four years older than Sanchez, and is much more the complete player than the 25-year-old, who still has a lot to prove. Sanchez himself was quick to distance himself from comparisons to Ronaldo, stating: "Am I going to be the Ronaldo of Barcelona?"
"No, I just want to be Alexis Sanchez of Barcelona."
Still, Arsenal fans would be delighted were Sanchez go on to emulate the world player of the year, but for now might just be happy that they've signed a player with a tenacity to succeed, ability to perform in the big games and who is very much on the rise in world football.
