Very few people remember the name Andoni Goikoetxea; but to understand the context of the high-kicking end to the Copa Del Rey final of 1984, you need to meet the Butcher from Bilbao. A tough-tackling, no nonsense, defensive stalwart (enough clichés?) Goiko had developed a bit of a reputation for crocking Barcelona players, having all but destroyed Bernd Schuster's knee a couple of seasons previously. During a league match at the Camp Nou in 1983 Goiko scythed down El Diego and broke his ankle. Tensions rose ahead of the next season's Copa Del Rey final with Goiko claiming to keep the boot which had inflicted the injury in a glass display case in his house and eventually led to a massive brawl on the pitch where Maradona can be seen flying in and connecting a few terrifying hits, including some revenge blows on Goiko himself. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nEeMSBy8EW0
