6. European Fighters Seem To Get The Importance Of Call Outs
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6iwni8JI-4Y After Cub Swanson won his bout at UFC Fight Night: Swanson vs. Stephens, he was asked about a title shot against featherweight champion Jose Aldo. His response? "I don't beg." It was stoic. It was respectable. It's not going to get him into any promo clips however, and it doesn't help his marketability much. On the other hand, a couple of European fighters seemed to get the importance of calling guys out when given the chance last night. Norman Park went straight to asking for a top 20 opponent after his TKO of Japanese fighter Noriyuki Kotani, and called Diego Sanchez a punk in the process. Conor McGregor, of course, is no stranger to trash-talk and call outs - he was so fired up after his bout he was pitching that his next fight be in a stadium, and he wants to fight for the title by the end of the year. It's unlikely to happen - but it gets people talking, and it looks like more fighters might finally take notice and start marketing themselves, since the UFC seems to struggle with churning out stars these days.
