10 Things (Other Than Money) Used To Purchase Footballers

8. Lutel James - £200 & A Bag Of Footballs

The Transfer: Hyde United (England) to Bury (England). The Year: 1998. The Fee: £200 and a bag of footballs. Lutel James had a moderately successful professional career in the lower leagues of English football and its non-league divisions - the best years of which were spent at Accrington Stanley just prior to their return to the football league. However, the most well-known aspect of his career (perhaps aside from him two caps for the Saint Kitts and Nevis national side) was the nature of his transfer from Hyde United to Bury before his move to Accrington. Bury handed over £200 and a bag of footballs to Hyde to acquire James' services - a value reflected quite impeccably by his return of four goals in 68 league appearances for the club.
