10 Things Premier League Needs To Learn From American Sports

8. More Emphasis Placed On Youth Teams

3 College Teams One thing that all American sport does miles better than anyone over this side of the Atlantic is their incredible system of picking and training young sporting stars. The American college sports system is second to none is getting the best talent, training them up then having them move up and apply their trade in the big leagues. The support along that mere College teams get is crazy, thousands of people in massive stadiums come out to basically cheer on school kids it€™s mad and impressive all at once. Most reverse or youth sections of Premier League teams barely get one man and his dog to turn up and support the future stars of football. American college teams have top class stadia and coaching staff all to get the very best out of raw talented young players. Both Basketball and American Football college playing teams even have TV deals on major US networks something you would never see happening over here. Any fan in America already knows the top rookie players that could come into their league and be a big force while most football fans are generally surprised when a youth player bursts though the ranks and starting playing for a top team. Now I€™m not saying the English system is broken lots is spent on training players, smaller clubs are reimbursed with a fair bit of cash if a team buys their star youth players and the loan system works well too letting younger players drop down a few divisions to play regular football. However you can€™t help look at the America set up and wish this country would do more to show off and help bring in the best young talent. Germany and Spain before the turn of the last century knew more needed to be done to help the young in their country so spent time, effort and money investing on the next generation of footballers . I don€™t think it would do the Premier League any harm in playing money down and start building in the game€™s future. Something like giving more advantage to teams that nurture and bring though more youth players rather than just buying in foreign talent. They could also give the stars of tomorrow a bigger platform for people to notice bring in bigger crowds and advertisement to fund more youth team football themselves. Giving the talent places on TV or even online to show off to the fans help build something as good as the America youth system. Who knows it might even give our international team a chance a winning a major trophy in the future.
