10 Weirdest UFC Stories From 2016 So Far

5. Werdum Refuses To Save UFC 196

UFC 196 was supposed to take place on February 6th, 2016. Then challenger (and former champ) Cain Velasquez was injured and pulled out. Stipe Miocic was announced as his replacement, something fans welcomed - he was the man many fans would have chosen to face Werdum in the first place. Then Werdum announced he was hurt and pulling out of the fight. Only, he added that, had it been Velasquez, he would have taken the fight regardless. It seems he was only hurt enough to pull out of the fight because it was Miocic. Fans were livid, the event was renamed to UFC Fight Night 82, and gone was its PPV status. The heavyweight champ will take a while to recover from this scandal, as fans are now accusing him of running, and even Conor McGregor got in on the act, calling Werdum a p****.
