7. Jimmer Fredette Before Klay Thompson

Jimmer Fredette was a college phenom. Averaging 28.9 points per game for BYU, Fredette was more than NBA ready - he was supposed to take it over by storm. That was the fans' opinion, who bought out his jerseys in numerous stores in Sacramento. The experts however noticed some flaws in his game - he wasn't chosen with number ten in the 2011 NBA Draft without good reason.

Fredette was unathletic and turnover-prone. What is more, he was a great shooter when open or with a bad defender in front of him. Matter of fact, he still can score a lot of points against mediocre opponents. The player that can score as much against much better opposition? Klay Thompson, taken with the 11th pick by the Golden State Warriors.

Klay Thompson was also a great scorer in college. To be honest, he benefited from two things: a defensive-minded coach in Marc Jackson and the fact that he was picked after Fredette. Klay's defense allows him to influence the events on the court even when his shots are not going in, while Jimmermania meant he could develop on his own terms in Golden State, without any pressure. He is now a two time NBA Champion, while Fredette is scoring a ton of points in the D-League and in China.
