10 Worst Sports Jerseys Of All Time
7. Manchester United Away Kit (1995-96)
Manchester United's red home shirt is iconic. Think of Manchester United and the mind is drawn to a host of legends, wearing a white number 7 on a bright red background, Psychologically, this makes sense. Red is traditionally seen as a powerful colour which intimates opposition and can be seen from great distances. It is not a coincidence that 40% of Premier League teams in the 2015-16 season had red as a main colour.
Imagine all the positives of having a timeless red home shirt, if you put the opposite of each positive into a blender, what would come out would possibly resemble Umbro's design for United's away shirt in 1995. This away shirt was not only visually disgusting, looking like the result of somebody putting an analogue television on a non-existent channel, the colour was so dull that it was difficult for players to pick each other out on the field.
The grey shirt is famous for being hated so much by Sir Alex Ferguson that he forced the team to change out of them whilst 3-0 down at half time in a league game at The Dell, blaming the kits for the deficit. In five games wearing the kit, the Red Devils lost four and drew a single game.
