10 Worst Spurs Managers Of The Premier League Era

2. Jacques Santini

There's very little to say about Jacques Santini in his time at White Hart Lane - because it was so ridiculously brief - other than the fact he was a huge disappointment. Santini arrived from Spurs after Euro 2004, having previously been the coach of the French national team. He had been manager of Lyon before that and had earned himself a great reputation, having turned them in to the best club team in France. As the club's manager from 2000-02, Santini won the French League Cup in 2001 and the French Championship in 2002. Having joined Spurs, he surprisingly announced his resignation after just thirteen games in charge. He cited personal problems as the reason for his departure, but it was widely reported that a series of disagreements with then Sporting Director Frank Arnesen were the real reasons. Santini has since stated that he quit partly because he felt agreements with the club were broken, but he did also admit that he "dug his own grave" by agreeing to join Spurs before the end of Euro 2004. Of his thirteen games in charge, eleven were in the league. He won 3 of them drew 4 of them and lost 4 of them, with Spurs scoring just six times in those games.
