Tim Sherwood is Spurs' most recent boss prior to the appointment of Mauricio Pochettino, the man currently in the White Hart Lane hot seat. Sherwood took over from Andre Villas-Boas in December of 2013, after the Portuguese coach had been sacked - despite having the best win percentage of any Spurs boss ever - following a couple of heavy defeats to major Premier League rivals like Liverpool and Manchester City. His appointment was only ever meant to be temporary - in spite of the fact that he was supposedly given an 18 month contract at the club - and he was sacked from the club completely on the 13th of May 2014. Sherwood's performance as manager wasn't bad. He famously got the best out of the previously frozen out Emmanuel Adebayor and he won 13 of his 22 league games in charge, drawing 3 and losing just 6, but his handling of the media was terrible. He was constantly mouthing off and publicly criticised his players, saying they lacked guts and character - something Daniel Levy, and Spurs fans alike, believed should have been kept in the dressing room. Spurs finished the season in sixth position in the table and, to be blunt, their style of play under Sherwood was not entertaining at all - very unlike what Spurs fans are used to. His sacking from the club ended a six year coaching stint at White Hart Lane, having been brought in by Harry Redknapp in 2008 and going on to become the club's Technical Director. Sherwood had also played for the club between 1999 and 2003.
