Doug Livermore (pictured on the left in the above picture alongside Clemence) and Ray Clemence took over at Spurs as a duo in the Lilywhites' first ever Premier League campaign in 1992-93, following the dismissal of Peter Shreeves. Livermore had previously been in charge, alongside Trevor Hartley, as Spurs' joint caretaker boss back in 1987. The pair guided Spurs to a ninth place league finish and acquired the likes of Teddy Sheringham and Darren Anderton - who went on to be club legends - and they didn't really do anything wrong as such. But the fact is, it was a largely uninspiring partnership who led the club to a very mediocre first Premier League season. In their time in charge, they won 16 of 42 league games, drawing 11 and losing 15. They also blew their best chance of silverware by losing in the FA Cup semi-final to bitter North London rivals Arsenal - with the Gunners going on to win the competition that year. That they were replaced by an inexperienced and largely unsuccessful Ossie Ardiles is testament to their season in charge.
