He might not have had the incredible scoring record of the likes of Alan Shearer in the Premier League, but Trinidadian Jones could have been a big hit in Scotland, where his more languid style might well have translated into more goals. Having started out as a player in Jack Warner's pet project - Joe Public FC in Trinidad & Tobago - he moved on to W Connection and then Southampton after a trial, but his skills were so renowned in his home land that he managed to attract attention from Man Utd, Middlesbrough, West Ham and Rangers, all of whom gave him a trial. Unfortunately for Jones, Rangers didn't see his skills as transferrable to the SPL and he signed for Southampton, where he was moulded into a striker having been a utility man up to that point.
